Well, i've had my case fans plugged into the line labeled "Fans Only" from the Antec TruePower 430W PSU... made sense to me. Turns out though that it's off the 5V rail, so the fans run rather slowly... 'So that's why it was so quite,' i said to myself. Tricksy, false Antec. Anyways, i plugged them all (6) into a regular 12V rail (one not used by any hardware) and now the case seriously roars. Good thing i'm installing the water cooling this week.

Anyways, i just discovered this and thought i'd share it.

is it always the 5v rail, or is it regulated by temperature? from the pic it looks like the normal 12v rail but i am not certain.

oh, well mine's fan only plug uses the far two wires, which i think are the 5V rail. wierd that it's different. maybe because my antec case is supposed to be super quiet

edit: spelling

I likes the avatars - for both of you :)

The fan only connectors IIRC are powered from the PSU's thermal fan controller, which in turn is powered from 12v.

interesting
i guess my case temp was low enough... something like <80*F

whateva.. watercooling in tomorrow :)
