I tested this function on OPFP2. I didn't see much of improvement, although I felt like the game got more sluggish, when moving around the player and rifle.
I don't know if it's just my imagination or the AA function have something to do with it.

Tried mode 4x and 8x on a ATI HD 5770 card.

That clock speed should be fine really, more is always better though.

What resolution do you play at? What is OPFP2???? Did youenable AA through the game or CCC/Rivatuner?

The 5770 is a midrange card equal to a GTX260 216 or so. I can run with AA on most of my games (2x/4x/8x depending on the game).

Like I said, it depends on the resolution used, your links support that.

The first link doesnt show what res it used (didnt look earlier in the review), but its likely pretty low I would imagine.

The card listed in the 2nd link is MUCH more powerful card and would bottleneck a lot earlier than a 9400gt so while those results are informative, Im not sure how valid they are in this discussion (see above) while being compared to a "lowly" 9400gt vs GTX280.

Again, we should have the resolution. If hes at 1920x1080, the CPU o/c could help, but not nearly as much as lower resolutions.

Thanks for the information though! :)

yeah I figured the 5770 lay somewhere inbetween the two (albeit much closer to the GTX280), either way the results are still valid if you interpolate. The results including the 4xAA are the most intriguing and the ones the OP should pay attention to the most.

On a side note: We're on OCforums, go OC a little nicoliani! :D

Word!!!!

And thanks in advance for not taking my post in a negative light...I just couldnt figure out any better way to say that in a less.....ehh....assertive manner.

Res is 1920*1080
The game is Operation Flashpoint 2
I have ticked AA in CCC as "use application settings", I figure that means that the game settings is used, and not CCC.
And "AA mode" is on performance if that has anything to do when "use application settings" is ticked.

For 1920X1080, You definitely need to up the CPU speed. Just turn off AA in CCC, and turn it on in games that you want to have it playing in. Performance mode will mean that when AA is used, it will probably be on the lowest setting.

i have a 5770, but never tried that game.. im still in the process of getting all my games loaded that I enjoy, but if your card is reference you might see if you can flash to the asus bios and get the asus oc tool.. it allows for very easy overclocking along with overvolting of the 5770.. i have mine set to 1.2v and am inching closer to a 1kcore/5.6k mem settings.. it should lie somewhere around 1.24v.. an increase from stock to approx 900core and bumping memory up from the 4k range into the low 5k should give you a nice 3-400 boost in 3dmark06 and should help some of the AA probs, but again as stated above.. since your res is higher than mine ocing the cpu will help out a good bit too..

Just to be sure, on how to disable AA in CCC, because I can't see any on/off. I can only tick the box for "Use application setting". Now it's ticked on, so I figure AA levels are chosen ingame and not by CCC.
So AA is off in CCC. And by this AA-mode is also disabled in CCC, no matter what level it's on?

The lower the res the more the CPU comes in to play...:comp:

If you turn OFF AA in CCC and not set to APPLICATION CONTROLLED, AA will NOT work when you enable it from the game menu. If you have it set on APPLCIATION CONTROLLED and then enable it in game, it will work.

Correct.

True in general,
but if OPFP2 is CPU heavy (like Flight Simulator X, Half-Life 2, Quake-wars etc.) then refer to the links I posted below to see the effects of CPU OCing :) (on 1920x1080p with 4xAA)

then again, I've never played or heard of OPFP2, so I can't say that it is or isn't.

Its a FPS. I cant imagine it being to CPU heavy at that res. Most CPU heavy games (most, lol) are RTS type games or SIMS. The reqs on this game are 2.4Ghz dually, and reccom is quad core. Maybe it needs MOAR CORES?!!!! LOL

PS- "Stay classy san Diego!"

"Citizens of San Diego, I need all of you to stop what you're doing and listen!...",

well Half-life 2 and Quake Wars were FPS' and experienced 10-11% performance increase after cpu OC's to 3.4ghz in 1920x1080 situations with 4xAA, that's why i mentioned them that time. Again, its possible that this game doesnt apply to either, it's just an example incase this game is CPU heavy.
