Hey I have been looking for a G7 mouse deal to replace my old mouse. Do you all know of any deals. I was also wondering is there a difference between the blue and silver one and and the black and carbon fiber one?

truth is that I bought one then sold it like ummmmmmmmm 1 week later.

I will probably use my MX1000 for ever

I have the G7 and G15, got them in deal for like 100 awhile ago, I love both of them. The on-the-fly sensitivity change is <3
i've never really liked the on-the-fly sens effect... when do u actually use that?

for CS... it takes too long to have to click that and act on it after scoping the sniper (awp).

I agree on the sensitivity change. For me it's set and forget.

IMHO no mouse beats the mx518 yet. Too bad that mouse review guy didn't do any tests on the wireless mice.

and i stupidly sold my 518. :( i got a 510 left tho!!! i use the G7, and thinking of dropping down to the 510.

i heard the 510 when overclocked is the best mouse pretty much... so i may test that out cuz i never OCed a mouseport b4.

Eh... not so sure about the 510. We need a really really really tiny accelerometer to put inside the mice of "pro" gamers and see how fast they really move their mouse.

I'm used to dual monitors and having to traverse a large desktop so my mouse movements are fine and precise, not sweeping and accurate. My mouse pad only needs to be 6x6. YMMV I suppose.

The button never took me much time to get to, I had the 510 before and used the app changing button alot as a bind in WoW for pots and such, so it's sorta second nature... I wish it had the forward button like the 510 does, but I still live.. I like the wireless a bit more than the wired, and I've never lagged a bit. I have the USB receiver plugged into the G15 right next to it. I use the change for different programs and when I'm sniping in Op Typhon. CS I agree just moves to fast for the switching to be effective. A big plus for me was the Carbon Fiber look of the mouse too, I have a Kingwin case with CF accents and it all looks nice together.

So are the two colors the same model or differnt? And can anyone link the 510? Better yet, what is your opinions on the best mouse to pick up? Mine has seen better days and I want something that is going to last. It needs to be wireless though. G7 had recieved pretty good reviews, so thats why i was looking for it :)

I personally think that the mx1000 was the best mouse ever made. I own a g7, mx518, mx1000, and have used the copperhead enough to find out that I didnt like it. i personally use sensitivity change all of the time but still think that the mx1000 is the best mouse overall, it feels so good when it is in your hand.

Also my g7 worked perfectly for 6 months and then started to die. Now it disconnects all of the time and I have to turn off the mouse or take out the usb plug and reattach it to get it to work again. I have been to lazy to rma it because I would just be using my mx1000 anyways as lately I havent been playing very many games.

I think that the mx518 is as good as a g5/g7 but it doesnt have enough buttons. Well actually they have the same ammount but to use all 7 buttons on the mx518 is harder then using all 7 on the g5/g7. I think that the weight adjustment on the g5 is a joke and I think that it feels like sandpaper, in otherwords unconfortable as crap. The g7 is just as comfortable as the mx518 and has better button posititioning but then again then seem to have an above average fail rate and it does cost a lot more. The mx1000 has 9 buttons, feels wonderful and doesn't get to sweaty like the g7 and mx518, but doesnt have adjustable dpi. Also some people that I know who have had the mx1000 for a long time have battery problems. The battery in integrated in the mx1000 so there is nothing that they can do.

Basically my ideal setup, and I would have it if I would just rma my g7 is:

mx1000 + saitek eclipse II for normal computing.
mx518 or g7 + saitek eclipse II for gaming.
mx1000 + g15/g11 for MMOs. IMHO the more customizeable buttons you have for MMOs the better. This setup would also be the best overall if you like to have a lot of progamable keys for your apps.

Also I'm left handed and still think that razer mice suck.

Hmmm now you have me second guessing the g7. How bad is the batter on the mx1000. And how long is the warrenty on it?

The battery is very good it will work for everything besides MMO players who play 20+ hours a day*. The battery on the mx1000 lasts far longer then the packs that come with the g7. The only problem with the battery on the mx1000 is that if it does die you dont have a battery to fall back on and logitech doesnt sell replacement batteries. All batteries slowly loose their ability to hold a charge and over time the battery may begin to die. The people that I speak of that had it "die" really just had the battery lose its ability to hold a good charge. Within an hour on a full charge their mouse would loose its complete charge and need to be recharged. The people that his happened to owned the mouse of at least a year and used it for heavy gaming. Also I know quite a few people who own this mouse about 1/2 notice that it holds less charge then it used to when they got it, but they still thought that it was fine. Only 2 had the mouse loose its ability to hold a charge to such a great degree.

I have no clue but the person that I know who had his "die" said he contacted logitech and the mouse was out of warranty so he had to buy another one but he decided against it and got a g5.

Also my g7 batteries have noticeably lost some of their ablitiy to hold a chage I used to get about 7 hours now I get like 5. Also one of the batteries refuses to charge some of the time and I have no clue why. Note I have the origional g7 and not the carbon fiber revision. I have had it for about a year and a week but basically stopped using it over the summer (6 months) due to drop outs.

* all wireless mice seem to fail to hold up under these conditions unless they have AA batteries. I used to play RFO with my g7 for about 20 hours a day and even boost mode couldn't keep up to charge the batteries fully after a few days so I begain to play on deminsihing returns because I couldnt charge a battery fully before the one I was using at the time died. The mx1000 certainly cant hold up in these conditions either.

I thought I heard the revision to the g5 was a littler better. Bah I can't make up my mind now. I think logitech should send me both :p

I have the G7. I don't really like the way my pinky tends to extend over it. kind of uncomfortable. Feels as if the mouse always want to turn counter-clockwise. the battery is short, a recharge is required every 48 hours and this mouse is only 2 months old with 4-6 hours usuage per day. That doesn't really bother so much, but I was think of selling it simply because of the way my it's discomfort on my pinky.

the mx510, mx518, and g5 all have this same grip stye that puts your pinky in this position however I do notice that for some reason my pinky seems to sit lower when I use the g7 which can cause it to feel as if it is being dislocated. Also when I first got my g7 the position of the pinky caused it to scape against my desk when I would flick the mouse in fps games. Because of this when I use the g7 I grip the mouse rather then rest my whole hand on it. Basically when I use the g7 I dont rest my palm on the mouse I hold it with the tips of my fingers. This stye of griping the mouse is supposed to be superior to palming the mouse according to fatility who designed his crappy mouse to be held in the way that I just mentioned without palming the mouse. I dont know if that is true as I dont trust fatality, the best gamer in the world   , but I find that it is more comfortable to hold the g7 in this way. However I do feel that the grip stye of holding a mouse is superior to palming a mouse for gaming but not comfort.

This is another reason that I think that the g7 is better then the mx1000 for gaming, even if you dont use adjustable dpi, because I finger grip the g7 and palm the mx1000 which fits your hand like a glove. Its almost like the mx1000 feels so good that you dont want to move it :p .

Right now I play WoW and a little CS. I used to play in Cal-I for CS but haven't had enough time for all that lately. Usually when I get a chance to play I play for several hours on end. I am leaning toward the G7 just for the ability to charge the extra battery and being left twiddling my thumbs if it goes dead.

I love my G7 to be honest... I just WISH I could buy more batteries for when the time comes...

right now they hold a charge for a few days apiece, and that's fine with me... if i have to change it every time i game, then I'll start to get frustrated... until then, I'm happy. :)
