Any harm to running drives right next to fans?

The way my case design is, my instake fans are right in front of my hard drives.. like there's a quarter inch of space or so between the fans and the hard drives.

Is there any problem with this? I think there are little magnets on the fans, so I'm worried that it might corrupt my data or something.

Nope. I've been running my HDs with front intakes pretty much touching them for years and have never corrupted anything. The magnets in the fans are far too weak to have any effect on the HD.

I also have intake fan right in front of my 2 harddrives. Keeps them nice and cool and dusty. Just make sure to use compresed air every now and then. :D But no problems with corruption or anything of that nature.

Yeah, in fact I think Enermax even makes some drive bay temperature monitors that have fans right in front of the drives. No data corruption will occur, but you may ought to be concerned about restricting airflow with only a 1/4" gap between the drives and the fans. That is, unless the drives are what you're aiming to cool with that fan.

Actually, I've got 6 3.5 bays, so I have the drives stacked in every other bay.. a decent amount of room for air to move through.

Fans in front of hard drives are nice. Keeps em cool. Only problem is LOTS OF DUST. Make sure you dust them once a month, or else you may see them blanketed and melting under multiple layers of dust.

Or you could put a filter there and get most of the dust out of the air before it enters.
