I will buy a P4 1.8A Northwood. I was thinking to buy it from an overclocking online-shop where they are saying, that they are testing the cpu's, if they are able to hit 2.4Ghz. The disadvantage is, the CPU's are bulk and costs about $280+shipping. The boxed version I could get for about $256(Munich,Germany).

My question is, can I buy any P4 1.8A and oc it to 2.4 with FSB133 or should I go for the tested one?

planned config:

P4 [email protected]/133
Swiftech MCX478
Forton Source PFC 300W(I hope this will enough)
ABIT TH7-II (RAID optional)
2x128MB RDRAM
ASUS Ti200 pure
Seagate 60GB Barracuda IV
Audigy Gamer

I know. Just want to know if it makes any difference in overclockability to buy just from somewhere, some P4.

I guess it depends on how much you want to hit that 2.4GHz mark. If you really want to nail that level, I see no problem with buying the pretested CPU's. The problem with buying one right now that isn't pretested is that it's still early and we really don't know the average overclock results yet. These things just haven't been out long enough.

I bought two 1.8A's and they both easily hit 2.4GHz at 1.65 volts. I haven't heard of any that won't hit 2.4.
