If I was going to spend $1300 on video cards I wouldn't put one in a 4x slot that the p5b has.
I believe the p5w has dual 8x slots and would be better suited for SLI. That being said, you still need hacked drivers to make SLI happen on a none certified board.
If you want SLI without messing with hacked drivers you need a 680i like the the Asus p5n or EVGA's new board.
IMO I would think even 8X would hinder performance on a 8800 series card. Dual 16X lanes would be the only way I would go SLI with those cards. I seriously dought someone is using a P5B-Deluxe with those cards.
