Anyone ever wreck a mobo by setting it on top a TV...?

..and turning the TV on? I don't know whether I destroyed my new CUBX-E through this stupidity, or if the board was screwed when I received it.

I get never ending 01 01 01 01 01's when the HDD is recognized in the Bios, after initial correct detection and ID, of course. The HDD checks out fine in a different box.
I might be too late to RMA the mainboard, btw.

The tv top is ok. Its plastic.
Board was probably bad when you got it.
Maybe try reflashing the bios if you can.

Thanks for your reply, placid. I think that the Bios is in such bad shape that it can't be flashed. The reason I brought up the TV isn't because I'm concerned with a static charge. I'm worried about the strong electomagnetic field that's generated by the CRT in TV's. Worse, this is an old TV!

I was damned stupid to turn the TV on with the mobo sitting on top of it!

Put it this way...I fried a mobo when my cat jumped into my lap while I was workingon it outside of the case. Lost a vid card at the same time too. If the cat wasn't so darn cute, she might have been history as well. Luckily, I wanted to replace those components and upgrade anyway, so it gave me the perfect excuse.

Beware Static.
