im thinking about getting 1gb of pc4000 and i was wondering if people could post their experiences, and/or benchmark scores with this ram. thanks in advance.

not bad for pc4000. if u want maximum oc for the cheapest. get the komusa pc4200 hyperram with adata chips. it costs 260.00 and will hit about 280/290 at 2.8/3.0volts.. or maybe bite the bullet and try their pc4400. its supposed to be really fast..

yea, but my processor will only go to around 250-260 on air. so im looking for some good, relatively cheeap pc4000 ram. :)

get some kvr with the hynix bt/d43 chips it will run to about 260/265. u can get a gig at bb for about 180/190 with sale/ rebate...

oops, maybe i should read closer, lol. i heard that stuff was hit and miss, as to what kind of performance you get.

in canada they dont have best buys or circuit city. thats what alot of guys do here if they dont have big cash to spend on memory. grab a gig of kingston valuram (look in the window on the box) for bt/d43 chips. ive yet to test a set of those chips that wont run at least 260

i think im gonna go with the shikaxram pc4000. after reading some articles it appears to perform very well with gaming, and that is all i really care about. plus im not really willing to spend $500 cdn on new ram. i can get this stuff for 375 with free shipping. i`ll let you guys know how it performs when i get it. which may not be for a little while.

where can i find this? i live in canada btw.

Do you have a Costo near you? Spydeymon, who lives in Canada said that three different Costco stores in his area were carrying the KVR PC2700 in 512MB sticks with the Hynix bt-d43 chips for about $100 USD per stick.

That would be great ram for your P4 @ 3.0 (15 x 250 = 3.750???), not too shabby, huh?

You should PM him and find out exactly where he lives, you might be in the same general area. Who knows?

Another (better?) choice for you would be the Buffalo Tech PC3200 or the PC3700, both have the Micron "46V32M8 / TG -5B C" chip which is what OCZ uses in their PC3700EB series ram. These are about $110-$112 per 512MB sticks (PC3700 is actually cheaper) and do 250 or so at 1:1 and 285 to 290+ at 5:4 on an Intel system, and at lower timings than the Hynix. The link below is to a vendor that ships to Canada.

The ram you asked about in this thread received good reviews from Anandtech. The ram I have linked to, as well as the Hynix, has received good reviews from a bunch of guys that visit this forum. Either way you should do just fine. Good luck, as that never hurts.

According to this Buffalo 3200 can also have Samsung
or Infineon chips so you may want to make sure your getting the right chips. Assuming that you target the Micron chips.

Good point, but keep in mind that the link above is to a product that clearly states it is Micron-chip based Buffalo Tech ram. It is for the PC3700 which, according to their website, either has the Micron or bh-5 (NOT!).

Don't mention 3700's not being BH5, delivery is tommorrow and that means I still have 18 hours to live in fantasy land. :)

I'm the same way every week with my Florida LOTTO ticket. The drawing is every Sat & Wed nights, about 11:00. I wait until late Tuesdays & Fridays to check the numbers for the previous drawings...that gives me a few extra days of hope that I won't have to go to work the following week.

I'm still going to work each week, so that'll tell you how much luck I've had so far. And I hope you enjoy your Micron ram.:)

i was gonna get the shikaxram, but now im the bid lead on ebay for a gig of ocz pc4000 el gold, it's looking like a steal(crosses fingers). ;)

bids usally double in the last part of those ebay auctions...believe me..happened to me many times :(
