This sound card is made by Hercules. The catch is they give a PCI card that codes the sounds and send them to a box outside the case for processing. This box has a lot of holes to plug many things to it: a Dolby sound system, a MIDI in/out, game port, 4 USB, microphone, headphones.....

I checked some reviews from several sites and they said that this was hot stuff, but in Hercules forum there are a lot of complains, mainly about the drivers for W2K and that the USB ports are not powered. Soooo....I wanted to know if someone has had some experience with this soundcard.

The USB ports are not powered. It is nice having two USB ports and the game/joystick controller port on the front as well as headphone and mic inputs.

Has a good look to it. Heavy and solid construction. Does not load the CPU.

So far I'm happy with my purchase. Seems to perform well, although I haven't utilized all it's capabilities yet.

Yeh I had one. Since I installed it my system would freeze within 15 mins of boot up every singe time.
Could be that my computers crap (my computers DEFINATELY crap but i'm not sure that was the problem).
Its a Cyrix 6x86mx 233 48Mb ram by the way.
Any way I ended up taking it back to the store.
I decided to U/g my comp before I bought another sound card.
Got an A7V133 M/b yesterday, just wish I could afford the processor and ram. (sorry for crapping on I'm just xcited)
