i built mine a few years ago i was hoping it would of lasted another year before needing upgrading even if i played some games on minimum settings (call me an optimist haha)

my spec is

XFX ProSeries Core Edition 850W 80 Plus Bronze ATX Power Supply

Amd Phenom Ii X6 1090t 3.2 Ghz Six Core

XMS3 — 4GB DDR3 Memory Module X2 = 8GB total
http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/cmx4gx3m1a1600c9

VTX3D AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB With built on Tv Tuner (i know it was a cheap budget one i only had £40 left in my budget so this was best i could afford at the time)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/VTX3D-Radeon-Graphics-PCI-Express-Accelerated/dp/B005J3EPFO

i also have 2x 500gb hdds Sata
and 1 160gb sata all at 5900rpm 2 from previous pcs i have been given or taken apart for parts in past

i havent overclocked anything as my cpu cooler and heatsink are stock and didnt want to risk the parts burning out as my motherboard doesnt have any onboard graphics so if my graphics dies im computerless until could get a replacement

put thr cpu underwater, clock it to 4.0 and add a 280x gpu and i would think your set for a while.

At this point it's impossible to say. When mantle and dx12 are fully utilized, games may make huge leaps. Right now, crysis 3 based games are the most demanding, and I would use that as a baseline.

Your gpu is gonna be your limiting factor at the moment.

That graphics card and the old Phenom CPU are both limiting factors for demanding games. You'll need to upgrade both + the motherboard to have something comfortably powerful enough. The 8GB RAM is ok.

The minimum "future proof" spec I would go for if you want a system that'll last you a few years would be something like this:

i7 4790K
ASUS Z97A/ Gigabyte Z97XUD4H/ ASRock Z97 Extreme6
2x8GB DDR3 (2x4 is fine for now though)
240GB SSD
1TB HDD
R9 290 or GTX 780 *non Ti
