HI Guys, I am gonna buy an LCD, I have my selection down to 3 models, Acer 732 (DVI) , BenQ FP767 (Analog) and NEC 1760 NX (dvi). The BenQ reviews I have read are give it thumbs up and it will meet the needs of what I need it to do, it is also about $100 US cheaper for me BUT it has no dvi for my 9500 Pro.

The other 2 models are equally as good but cost noticeably more. I am wondering if not having DVI connection will be something I regret.

Here is a reveiw of the BenQ

I don't have dvi and I could care less, the display is still awesome with vga.

I have a NEC and think it's a great deal for the right price, and it's the best quality of the three... somes down to some quality loss with the BenQ and no dvi or guaranteed quality and dvi with the NEC.

Tell me what you think of this BenQ review, the FP767 represents a savings of over a $100 US to me vs the Nec 1760NX w DVI or the Acer AL732 w DVI.

I agree but for me it is a cost issue I do not want to return my mini dv cam I just bought. Lotsa new expenses moving into my newly built home very shorlty :)

I've seen the BenQ's at the local computer shows in the past 6 months, and while they're at a great price, they are definitely a 'budget' LCD (kinda stretching that term here as even a budget lcd is better than most CRTs ;) ). You won't be displeased with it, but if you could put the NEC side-by-side with the BenQ your eyes will see the difference.

thanks for your feedback Pinky, I hope to be able to compare side by side. I am at my first stop , Futureshop to look at the Necs as I can put on card and no pay for 3 months, makes it easier. BTW have you been on some recent hikes lately in upstate NY??

I should get some of my Whistler BC hiking pics up sometime...

Yes!

But they've all been night hikes, so there's no use/need to take pics... plan on making a hike Saturday if the weather cooperates.

Eagerly looking forward to that Northern scenery of yours :)

I will get some up of our gang of clowns soon as I can get em off cd's , I know they are somewhere in this room of boxed confusion.

Anyways I took the plunge and bought the BenQ FP767 based on price. It was $180 less then the Acer AL732 and $200 Canadian less then the NEC1760NX, just too much of a savings to pass up and after seeing all inaction any difference in quality was minimal.

As far as I am concerned not having dvi is no biggie as the gained detail vs cost to me is not justifiable.

And that very well may be the better decision for you. My NEC wasn't the best 15" when I bought it 18 months ago, but it was a steal at $390 shipped when compared to slightly better LCDs at $500 shipped.

Like I said, you won't regret the BenQ, but a side by side comparison would be 'glaring'. Pardon the pun... wait, that's too clever to forgive! :p
