I am thinking about purchasing the GTSpro by leadtek . Now i currently have a voodoo 3 which i think runs great but only get 3500 winmarks in 3dmark2000. I got a athlon 1000mhz with 384 megs of ram and i need to know if its worth upgrading. Unreal T seems to play wonderfully at 1024*768 resoultion at 16bit color. What will the geforce 2 GTS pro offer me when it comes to playing games instead of unsing glide. What does the gtspro get in 3dmark2000?

thanks

GF2 lines are very fast but not very optimized for running UT. UT engine works happy with Voodoo3 cards so.. you may not see biggy difference in FPS.

I get over 8000 on my GTS with the old Det. 6.18 driver and my P3 1.064Ghz.

I don't own GF2 Pro but I know it's it very good card. I heard that they are almost like underclocked Ultra. GF2 Pro with latest driver and 1Ghz+ system should be able to give you around 8500 to 9000. If you check in the Madonion.com data base, you'll see some good numbers..

I just put in a gf2 pro 64meg in my p3 866@910 after running a voodoo3 2000 pci card.Believe me you WILL see a big dif in frame rate and looks. I mostly play q2 and some ut and being that this card wasnt even made for q2 I went from 68 fps to 99 using the default settings running the q2 crusher demo in 600x800.My card is an asus v7700 using asus 5.33 drivers (old).I normally run my rig at 145fsb making it a 942 so I should get a few more frames out of it when I get around to upping it.You will like the card believe me!!!! ps as you know the voodoo3's tho I like them are chokers

this is on a cheap mx , you decide ,1024 X768X32

How come I only get 60 fps in UT in 800x600x32 . I'm using the 6.50 drivers and Dx8.0a? Do have UT configured wrong? I get 8727 in 3DMark 2000 in 800x600.

So what games run good i mean 8000 marks dosnt mean a thing if i only got 3500 and im getting smoother frame rates then a mx or kyro2 then 3dfx must be doing something right when they were makeing cards

That is half true... i think. cauze 3Dmark 2000 was specially optimized to get best score with the nVdia GeForce cards. So.. yes, it's like cheating. haha.

But you have to know this that.. the Unreal Tournament engine is old and dedicated to 3dfx graphics cards to work well. UT engine is getting old and they won't be making the same one any longer. GeForce2 cards are built especially for the newer games. That is why you may not see huge improvement with a GF2 over a Voodoo3 card in UT fps. It's the Quake3 engine that is favored to GeForce series cards. So if you like UT very much and planning on playing that, im not sure if the GF cards are worth for you to buy it. There are a lot of present and newer games out there that will take a lot of advantage of GeForce2 and 3 cards. :)
