Yeah, I was caught with white stuff on my processor...I read a post saying that a guy dropped 6 degrees with it. I now want to clean it and put some AS on my 2500+ with my SLK-900a. How do I do that?

I would use my fingernail to get the large chunks off and then isypropyl alcohol to get the last a lil bit off. Credit cards and drivers licenses can work too.
Gl w/ that.

Got a sister, mom, or wife floating around the house?!?! Use some of there nail polish remover to get it off.

I looked at your CPU, and after you cleaned it, it looked like it left a stain. I don't know much about the XPU except it has fragile dye or whatever. I'm confused. Is it really safe to put that stuff on it? especially with it being electronic...do I have to worry about a drying period of how long??!

Um.. I think thats just shine from teh camera... It's probably fine but I don't know about the drying time... Alcohol's is really, really quick though, esp this type so you don't really have to worry about it just wait a couple of few minuts or to be safe an hour or two I think.

Nail polish remover should not be used. Cutex, the most popular nail polish remover contains: “Acetone, Water, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethyl Glutarate, Dmethyl Succinate, Dimethyle Adipate, Glycerin, Gelatin, Fragrance, Denotonium Benzoate, D&C Yellow No. 11.”

Obviously several of the ingredients should not come into contact with a CPU, heatspreader or heatsink. Glycerin, Gelatin and the Fragrance (an oil) will leave a residue in the microscopic surface imperfections and compromise the thermal interface.

When in doubt, you can always refer to the instructions. ;)
