noctua cpu cooler

are there anycuts i could take to get a good ssd, and stay at around 1500 for this build? i was looking at the falcon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231256

i want to be able to windows on it and maybe 3-5 games and some programs on it

how big of a file is windows 7 64 super duper edition?

Well, you sure as heck dont need a 1000W PSU for one videocard. Corsair 620HX would be fine for that system and TWO the GPUs you selected really. So I say save $100 on the PSU and get yourself an SSD (OCZ Vertex/Intel X-25). Then get the 640GB Caviar Black to save another $20.

W7 64bit was 10GB for me in its RC form.

Save $100 by going with a smaller PSU. 750watts will suffice. You can save another $30 or so if you go with the LE EVGA board (which clocks just fine, people are running 4.5ghz or close daily with it) OR go w/ a Ga-EX58 board fora bout $200 and save $60.

Thats $160, itll get you into a nice 30gb OS SSD or spend a few more bucks and get a 60gb Vertex for OS/Games.

Id definately say its worth it for SSD. You have a FAST cpu, why go with a SLOW hdd?

oh. lol i thought os's were like 30 gigs
so would this 64gig falcon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231255
for $180 be good?

the only problem i have with gettin a differnt psu is the connecters if i ever wanted to do like 3 way sli, and finding a psu thats modular.

so if i cut a graphics card, that would be 180 on the dot, and i could do that mobo and save another $30ish for kicks a giggles

I suggested what was good that I know of in teh way of SSD's....No idea on that falcon. But I would say no at this time.

You never mentioned 3 of those cards until now. And unless you are on a 30" monitor thats a monumental waste of money.

i have 32" philips tv 1366x768 panel

Oh god yes, that 1TB HD will be so bad. I've noticed that the seek times as well as small file performance just suck on mine. It's great for data storage, such as media, but if you want to feel like your computer is snappy at all I would consider something else. A raptor or a SSD drive would be much better, with SSD being the best. EarthDog is also right on the PSU recommendation.

Pffffff, thats nothing. The resolution I am talking about is 2560x1600. ONE GTX260 216 would beat the res you listed to a pulp bro. You dont need SLI none the less Tri SLI. ;)

lol... a 9800 GTX still runs phenomenally for me when I upgraded to 1920x1080. Another good suggestion :p

If you get a Noctua CPU cooler you'll get Noctua's thermal paste with it. It performs just as well as AS5, and is more convenient because it doesn't need 50+ hours to set.

Also, you could do with a lot smaller PSU. Your build is very similar to this one, which consumed at most 370W. You could run that machine on a proper 450W power supply, although more would be needed to give upgrade room.

Stick to known good brands, like that Corsair I listed. Please check out the PSU known good sticky in teh PSU section.

Get a better PSU:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001&Tpk=520hx

That will handle everything you got and have a ton of room to spare. Plus, it is cheaper and really good quality (unlike the one you just linked).

520 watts! are you guys positive that's enough? the 260 says its supposed to have a miniumum of a 500 watt powersupply. cutting it close much?
would this be able to take a pretty good oc and another graphics card down the line?

i looked at the psu sticky, would this coolmax be ok? its even cheaper, but with more watts. idk about quality/customer service though...

Just take the corsair hx620 if you are afraid of cutting it close in the future with the 520. The corsair 620 is my favorite all around psu at the moment. I have even better news for you, i am putting my Intel x25 ssd in the classifieds in a few days. We cant officially discuss this, but figured i would throw you that tidbit of info. ;)
