I finally got all of my stuff for my water cooling setup, now I want to find a really cool place to put it.
Idea 1 (easiest): Build it in a treasure chest type trunk.
Idea 2 (impossible?): Spray everything with some kind of liquid rubber or silicone and submerge it in a fish tank.

I was wondering if anyone here has built a computer in a trunk or chest, and if the fish tank idea would be possible. Thanks for any imput :) .

1. The trunk idea is definitely do-able, its just a matter of fitting everything in an orderly manner. A trunk's alot bigger than many regular cases.

2. While there are sprays and paint-on substances that create a rubbering or insulating water barrier, they can't be used around contact points (like the cpu socket, agp slot, whatever). Dialectric grease can be used in contact points but I can't imagine smearing that stuff (think Vaseline) all over everything on or connected to the motherboard. If you decide to take the plunge (ha ha) then don't submerge your psu, hard drive, or optical drives, no matter what.

I say seal the powersupply and make a smoke stack for it!!!. If you really wante a submerged computer than yes you should not submerge any of those things. Also you should think about the ability to move the computer if needed. A fish tank will take away any kind of movability that you would normally have with a computer.

I say the trunk Idea would be the best. It is original and much less hassles are included.

Just put the radiator in the fish tank. If you actually had fish in it that would be great. It would keep the fish warm too.

Or if its a really big fishtank, then forget the radiator and just put your pump into the tank, pumping water to your block and back into the tank.

Except that you would have to seal the tank and ditch the fish to keep debris out of the blocks and pumps.

Hehe, you wouldn't want any fishie poo clogging your blocks :)

Putting your treasure under water would probly cause nothing but problems... I'd just go for the chest idea :)

Mabye I could paint my mobo and stuff gold and then put it in the treasure box? I found some nice ones on ebay.

Is it possible to spraypaint the mobo, graphics card, ect?

i just dont understand this kind of modding (spraypaint)

fish poo lol

ps. some paints use metals to make their color (aluminum , silver , gold , copper) are u shure thats good to spray all over your components?

painting compnents =\ working computer

unless it latex with out ANY metals in them or your really good at paingint thick thick thick base coats....

oh and thermal insulation...thats a possible issue. i HAVE seen some one take a UV pen to compnents and it was kinda neat...the way the guy did it was really freaking time consuming though

Guess I would have to test the paint like this guy did. I would also tape off all chips and things.

Ok, I decided to do my trunk idea and I got one off eBay. It also comes with a base so it sits kinda off the ground. All I have to do is wait for it to come in the mail! Here it is without the base.
