I just purchased this board from newegg, this is going to be my first a64 system coming up from the socket A era.. I was wondering since I am waiting for this board to arrive so I can plug my 3500 in the board, is there any quirks that needs to be addressed in bios settings to make this board pur? Im going to be using my agp 9800 series card as well.

after that is there anything else that I need to address.. besides making sure current bios setting is installed?

Thanks in advance for any replies..

as you can see there are no respond to this post because there are no quirks on this board. no but seriously, there arent too many people here who have bought this board, that's why you haven't gotten a respond yet. this board is the new revision of dual sata and everything almost the same as the other. it has more voltage adjustments and the vdimm voltage goes higher than former. i say there shouldnt be any problem other than wrong bios settings and not installing windows properly (w/ the sata2 drivers and agp and integrated drivers). Just follow the instruction in the manual downloaded from asrock website and you should be fine.
There is another forum site called ocwforum.com that specializes in asrock boards and there are plenty members familiar w/ this board there

I got the board last night, went and updated to BIOS 1.30 (had 1.20), only problem is that I am such a newb with a64, my HT is underclocked to 800 when the processor can handle 1000, how do I increase the HT Link in BIOS?

I am using default settings which are 1.4 v 11x200

If the bios for the vsta board is structured/ organized the same as the bios for the dual SATA II, it is under Advanced-> Chipset Settings-> CPU-NB and NB-SB settings... bump 'em up from 800 to 1000

Additionally, when I had an agp card installed on my dual SATA II, I had to manually set the Advanced -> Chipset Settings -> AGP Deep Fifo to 'enabled', otherwise it would hang on driver installation... unsure if the dual vsta is afflicted by this problem or not

Skeet,

Additionally to what OCHungry stated, just because not too many have this board here it doesn't imply there is anything wrong with it. It's essentially an improved Asrock DualSata2 939 board. You'll have more voltage if you want to overclock it a little but I would wait before getting into that if you are new at it. While our BIOS' aren't the same there are many similarities that we may be able to help you with.

Were your HT settings set that way be default?

If you have problems, try to post some screen shots of your BIOS.

They might be set that by default (think of the DDR-333 issue on the Dual SATA). Most default setting aren't optomized.

And yes, it should be right where Chevy said it is in the BIOS. Change to "5x" for 1000. Do it for both bridges.
