I recently upgraded to a 1.2 ghz Athlon with an Asus A7A mobo. I installed both Windows 2000 and Windows ME, and both automatically froze when it began to boot into the OS from the boot up screen. I went into VGA mode in Win 2k, and set it down to 256 colors, and booted up fine. Now, if I attempt to change it to 16-bit or higher, while in Windows, it immediately freezes. I think this may be do to my ATI All-In-Wonder 16mb PCI card. It hasn't been that user friendly to me in the past either ala no Open GL in Win 2k. Any suggestions would be helpful :)

If I can't get it to work, I will probably have to get a new video card, because 256 colors scares me quite a bit. Geforce 3 come to Papa ;-)

ALSO, I FORGOT SOMETHING

For some reason, when I attempt to use a pulldown menu, such as selecting a country on a webpage, it makes a thinking sound, then locks up. This happens with Windows Applications, Opera, and Netscape. I assume it is related to the OS, but have never heard of this problem before. If anyone knows what the hell is going on, please help...I am begginning to wish I never upgraded at all :-(
