i email asus and they said the new bios 1005.5 is reading the correct temp's so everyone who is saying 1003 has the correct temp's is wrong... dunno why but the new bios which reads 10c higher they said is correct.. which means my watercooled setup is running at 50c now..? and i know i have it installed correct... how can that be???
maybe we need a new moboard??

Well that means mine is running around 56c on a normal basis! WOW! This same watercooling setup kept my PIII 800 @ 960 at about 1 or 2c above ambient temps. So Why would it run so hot with this chip? I know Athlons run a hell of a lot hotter then PIII's but thats ridiculous! I'm thinking of tearing it all apart one of these days and resetting the whole thing up again. If that don't work I'll order a nice HSF when I get the cash. Atleast that way I got something to slap on there while I get my watercooling bugs worked out.

Right now I don't even have a HSF for my 1.2 gig T-Bird. I never ordered one. Figured I'd save my self a few bucks by not ordering one. So I rigged my Slot 1 PIII waterblock to fit on the board. Although it's not designed for a T-Bird it does have waterflow right over the area where the core sits. So I'd think it would still cool pretty good.

Don't accept this yet...I've heard of guys from asus saying that, and guys from asus saying the opposite! I've also heard of guys who have tested with a standalone therm. and said it does read 10 over...The truth? I dunno...I think its 10 over as I've seen a couple gujys who have checked say that...and I have heard all different things from asus...non of which match...

Is the new bios coming out a beta or certified bios?

supposed the be 1005 cetified...hmmm shouldent it be 1006 since they have a beta 1005.5?? owell as long as it works!

I agree. Actually I don't really care if it's certified or beta. As long as the results are good.

I can't remember the last time I've run a certified VGA driver?

I think I'm gonna pick up a digital thermometer one of these days and see if I can get a more accurate temp on my cpu. I'll just stick in next to the side of the core. That should give me pretty accurate temps. It would be nice to see the temps anyway without having to run a monitoring program.

When I bought my board it had 1002 bios ,i put in 1004 bios & temps went up 8-10 according to the probe I updated the probe but still high may try the new1005.5 bios when i find it & time.I now have golden gate (gladiator) lapped&artic silverII,also 2 more 92mm fans blowing in from side of caseonto cpu & mobo. 4 in fans 2 out fans,1 hsf &1psu out fan still run close to 60 sometimes when it's 85 in the house mobo temp stays within 3-5f of house temp

Thats right around what I'm running at sometimes. Stays pretty consistant between 53c and 57c depending on wether or not the computer desk door is open or closed. See those temps can't be right.
