I just heard about "flashing" the bios. I have version 1.02 I think.

I really don't have a clue as to how to proceed, though the 1.05a bios is sitting on my desktop waiting for me to do something.

Is this risky? And can you direct me to a site that can walk me through it?

Happy New Year,

grab the asus CD that came with the motherboard, install asusupdate, run it, pick from file, pick your file, do the update, if it fails do it over, when it makes it through without errors reboot windows and its done. There is a slight risk that if you lost power or something similar in the process you'd screw up your computer <the BIOS would be corrupt and you'd have to call and order a new BIOS chip, or figure out how to do an emergency restoration if the board supports it.
