Ok, so I just finished building a system and here are the specs:

AMD 1Ghz T-Bird
Asus A7V133
Micron 256MB PC133 SDRAM
Maxtor 30GB ATA/100 7200 RPM HD
Toshiba 48x CD-ROM
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon
Linksys Network Everywhere NIC(connected to cable modem)
D-Link NIC (sharing cable connection)

Now I got a few problems with it:

1.) No matter what I do, it says it only has a 750Mhz CPU. JumperLess mode is on and i have manually set the multiplier to 10.0x in BIOS, but it still only recognizes it as a 750. Any suggestions?

2.) Whenever I try to play a game, it locks up. Normally it locks up the second I start a level, like in Half-Life. But sometimes it lets me play for a few minutes, then locks. Now it doesn't lock when I'm just in windows, only playing games. ANy help here? Thanks

1. Hi Yoda- I've got a similar setup. In your BIOS, set your operating freq to User Define, your clock mult to 9.0x, and your CPU freq to 133. That should do it. Sorry I can't help you with #2.

Right Asus likes to default your fsb settings to 100 and let you change it to 133 so 7.5x133=1000Mhz (1 Ghz).

For question 2. What operating system and what level Via 4in1 drivers are you using. Did you reload your operatingsystem when you updated your system. I had a couple games just end when I hadn't yet reloaded everything from scratch.

WIn98SE, the newest ones the 4in1431v's. Yeah, i did a clean format and install when I added the mobo and everything.

I have a similar setup to yours, except for the video card. I have a geforce2mx. The A7V133 automatically detects the cpu chip and sets the front side bus to whatever the chip says it should be. You could be a victom of someone remarking a chip. Try setting the FSB to 100 and the multiplier to 10x in the bios. If that doesn't work, then do the L1 bridge trick. You can read about that on the main page. If that doesn't work, then you may have a bad chip.

Thanks for your help, but setting it to7.5 then doing the CPU to 133 got it to post as 1Ghz. ANd the problem with it locking up lies in the sound card i found out. The MX300 sound card drivers suck, so i installed reference ones and it purs like a kitten now.....you wouldnt belive the framerates on Tribes 2!! Thanks guys!
