OK, So I probably got the wrong forum, But I was wondering, is it worth saving £180 for an Asus Eee 901 Netbook? It has SSD which I want to try out and it just seems overall fun, it would be a fun experiment anyway so here is my question:

Should I save up £180 for it (which, by the time I have £180 it will have dropped a bit probably) or Should I save up to build a medium - high rig?

Look at my current specs for any additional info :)

Btw I WILL be keeping xp on it unless when Windows 7 is officially released, it can run on under 10GB :p (which I doubt).

Thanks for any suggestions :)

It is useful as a side toy. I use my netbook for using in the car line to pick the kids up from school and updating my netflix que but not much else. The SSD's in them are dreadfully slow and the CPU is good enough for basic tasks but not much else. In the 9" frame the keyboard is pretty tight as well. Just have realistic expectations for what you are getting.

Really? SSD's are slow  I thought that they were like uber fast considering they don't need to spin a disk for the data.

Do you think it is handy as a little youtube player around the home? considering its wireless capabilities?
If it is, I will just use it for youtube, ebay, and forum related stuff :)

Not SSD's in general, the SSD's in cheap netbooks. You have to consider top performing SSd's cost as much and more than a whole netbook.

It will be fine for regular youtube but will choke on HD youtube videos and will choke and stutter on hulu.
