Howdy guys,

Being kinda new to the AMD hardware, and throwing together my first Duron system, I figured I'd better turn to the experts for some info.

I'm looking at 2 Asus boards I can get decent prices on, and I'd like to know what your good/bad experiences with the hardware have been:

1) A7V-E with the VIA KT133 chipset
2) A7S-VM with the SiS730S single chip chipset

My first instinct is to avoid SiS chipsets, but my hardware knowledge is out of date, so I thought I'd ask. I'm sure there's something bad about one of these boards that I don't know about, hehe. So, fill me in...

I don't know about the A7S-VM but I've got a couple of A7V's with both the KT133 and the KT133A chipsets and would recommend going with the KT133A to take advantage of the potentially higher FSB available to you on these boards. This way, down the road you would have the option of upgrading to a 266 CPU. On my A7V133 with the KT133A chipset, I've had no problem getting a couple of DURON 600's over 1100MHz.

*bump*
