Houston we have a problem...I decided to revive my PC(ASUS P2B-D rev.1012b with P2-400). So I got myself a Celeron II 667, MSI Slotket and Golden Orb cooler. When I removed the P2 block(This is the dual motherboard and P2 is the oneclosest to external connectors in the back, the other slot contains the terminator) and tried to insert the slotket with Cel. II and Golden Orb, it would not fit because the Orb was pushing on some rather tall capacitors. So I removed the orb from the slotket and put a stock fan and cooler setup on Cel.667. This time it fit perfectly(but no good for overclocking). I set the slotket to 1.80 VCore and 100 mhz bus speed.
When I tried to boot, nothing happened, I mean drives came to life but no display output or anything. I tried setting VCore to 1.85 and then 1.90 to no success. So I decided to put my old P2-400 back in after which I still couldnt boot up. After very little luck, I removed all my pci cards and disconnected all my drives, leaving only agp videocard and 128 pc100 module plugged in, still no luck. I double checked Bus Frequency jumpers(100mhz) and cpu multiplier jumper(4x). Everything seems alright but it just doesnt boot: no display output.
Could I have FRIED the motherboard. I think at one point I tried placing the Celeron CPU slotket in the 2nd CPU slot(farthest from the external connectors) and CPU terminator in the 1st CPU slot after which I tried to boot to no success........Could that be the reason for not booting up?
Could you guys suggest any techniques for trying to figure out the cause of this? Im out of ideas except for finding someone with the same motherboard and trying to put my Cpu in there so that I can single out the motherboard....
Help please
