Thanks for your input I do appreciate it. The best way
I can explain is temp. reported through the bios based upon the on die diode . I have no probe added between the cpu &HSF. Here's an asus tech's verson of whats happening. "The Pentium III processor incorporates an on-die diode that can be used to monitor the die temperature. The temperature reported in our P3B-F BIOS is based on the signal sent out from the on-die diode of the CPU to ASIC, so it is very accurate. Since Pentium III processor has a very high die temperature, it is important to use well-designed heatsink with good heat dissipation capability to ensure the temperature never exceeds the threshold set in the BIOS to avoid system warning and CPU throttling." I don't question this just the temp. readings I'm receiving. I've upgraded to the lastest bios which is supposed to correct this problem still no success. Before I retire this Cpu I'm going to try an Alpha Hsf. If anyone has any better suggestions please respond.
