My specs are Asus P5N32-E SLI, 2 gigs Cosair 6400 ddr2 4-4-4-12 1t, intel 6700, asus nvidia 8800gts. cooler master 850 watt SLI cert PSU

I ran 3dbench06 mark and got an 8200 which was about 700 less than what it was when it wasnt OC.

I am running 1.42v @ unlinked 1350 FSB. Right now its running 3.38 GHZ.
FSB 1.4v mem 1.95v nforce 1.55v

On idle temp is at 47C on a Zalman 9700 fan.

GPU when on 100% fan speed is at 60C.

43c System temp

DDR memory running at 800mhz

So is this good? bad? Seems to be running a little bit hot. What could be the reason for the lower 3dmark score?

i can say that your temps dont look like anything to get worries about. i know that the 8 series nvidia cards run hot. i WOULD say thoguh that the CPU temp with a 9700 does seem a LITTLE high though. not sure at all why at all why your benches are lower, sorry dude.

Try it again at stock speeds again and check to see if the score drop is really connected to overclocking.

Ok doing that now..brb

I often wonder about this type of experience in performance, have you overclocked the video card? In my experience a video card that is overclocked too far can hurt performance without even showing visible artifacts.

Sometimes its tough to boost the performance of a benchmarking application by overclocking one thing alone. Perhaps by overclocknig the CPU you have somehow lowered the memory performance, which may hurt that application more than what the cpu would help; however, in an actual game the higher CPU performance may actually be more important. I would also take baseline performance measurements of the CPU, memory at different speeds to get a good idea of what might be suffering.

Na, with it being hot already i havent wanted to touch it..8800 runs way hot...hoping for a zalman fan to come out soon.

I would try and make sure that you havn't gotten your OS and driver settings fudged up. Even go to the extremes of reinstalling and then take another performance baseline. Once you have done that then you can document (or remember) the changes you make so that you can go back. Nvidia drivers sometimes get messed up I swear, especially when you are dealing with SLI. When you do your overclocking make small changes and take performance measurements as you go.

When you first get things installed and setup its important to record the performance of the components synthetically. Run synthetic benchmarks that tests the performance of each isolated component. That way when your real world performance drops you can go back to those tests and see if any of them are lower. For example, the memory test may show that your memory performance has dropped. At this point you may remember that you changed your ram timings and that will be the cause. If none of the synthetic tests are lower, its easier to see that a game setting or driver setting may be off.

also ever since this new build i have gotten lag in all my games. Counter strike its constant choke and packet loss...bf2 it pauses...nvidia lan either sucks or something is triggering it from the system

Really, I have the 650i and i am not experiencing lag from any of the games. I don't really know if the unlink has an effect or not on these boards. You could try linking and unlinking it and testing to see the performance difference.

You could try a different ethernet card to see if it solves your lag problem. If that solves the problem then you might want to try to reinstall the driver or reconfigure the hardware settings of the lagging ethernet card.

ok i did everything i good...unistalled ..reinstalled...2 different pci NIC cards....dunno now
