Asus P5QL/EPU won't work on any settings other than AUTO...

So I have this P5QL/EPU and an E6300 with 2 sticks of some corsair ddr2-800 and 2 sticks of ocz ddr2-800. If I set the cpu control to manual (even leaving the fsb at 266) when I save and exit it does its shutoff thing and then starts back up but never posts. After hitting the reset button it shuts off again and then comes back on and posts but says overclocking failed and to go into setup again. Any ideas on why it won't even run at stock speed when set to manual fsb?
