Well, this has happened twice now.

First time, i tried to see if i could get the VGA cooler from my HAFx installed. I realized the video card was too big for it, as i couldnt get it secured without forcing it against the heatsink. So i aborted the attempt and went to contiune on as normal. Only the computer wouldnt power up. The mobo was lit up, both power and reset buttons illuminated, but nothing happened when i hit the power switch on Either the case or the board itself. I finally managed to get the thing booted up after a Cmos reset, thinking it might have been the loose jumper for the reset, i changed it and went on.

Today however i setup my receiver for the audio. I moved the computer a few times (ie i rolled it a few inches around its spot to run wires) then when i got everything settled, the computer, again would not power on. I tried the reset, to no avail. I let it sit unplugged for a while, the entire time it was unplugged, the mobo power/reset lights were on. I hit the power switch sevral times to try to discharge it, but it didnt do anything. They stayed on for a good 10-15 minuets. This happend last time to and frankly buggs me.

Anyway i plugged it in, tried to power on again.. Nothing. I got frustrated and hit the power switch several times rapidly, and for some reason, THAT got the machine to power up and boot. I did some looking up and found a suggestion that the powerstate after loss *may* be the issue. Its default set to "power off" which was suggested to be switched to "last state".

Well see if that does anything if it happens again. I cant really replicate this issue, as a day or so ago, i had it unhooked and moved on to my kitchen table so i could switch fans around, and i hooked it back up and it booted without incident. So i dont really know what is causing it. This last time it was shut down right after a windows update. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Has any other Pro/gen 3 owners had this issue or know what is causing it?

Troubshoot

I have a Gen 3, no power issues. Couple of things to ask and check. 1. Is the Power and Rest buttons the only things that light up on the board when you try to turn it on? (i.e. MemOK LED)
2. You did use the "risers" for mounting your board to the case?
3. You have the 8 pin and 24 pin power connections "snapped" into place on the board?
4. Did you use the easy connector for attaching the HDD LED, Power switch, etc to the board? You have checked that they are 'securely' fixed in their correct places?
5. Do you have the EPU or TPU switches on?
6. Are your cases fans remaining on?

Not much help, just trying to narrow down the causes
(suspecting Case or PSU as the culprits at the moment).

You beat me to it.

The easy adapter is extremely loose, and can fall off by itself. I had to tweak the female connectors to tighten them, and/or slightly curve the pins to get them feeling half way secure. :(

Oh :(

Yes the easy connector seems loose, but it should be falling off.

Sounds like you may have bent it enough to disrupt to connection, but I can't say for sure.

Mine is actually fairly tight. Its working fine now, it just seems to happen when i open up the case to do something inside, so something may well be loose. Just dono what yet.
