I went ahead and skipped the ES chips as Janus said their 7yrs old. Those chips have been beat to death and now someone is trying to get rid of them. I went ahead and spent the extra $50 for a retail 980x, she didn't look much better than the ES chips 
All the other ones listed in the $200 - $300 were listed as seller refurbished. As I mentioned before, the 980x will be the fastest chip for me at the party I was looking at 2D benching with a possible run in GPUPI. I've got the 11th and 12th fastest 290x's, unless I can score one of the new AMD GPU's
