Hi guys

Well, my video card died on me.. fan stopped working, and... let's just say.. it got a bit.. toasty.

So, it was under warranty, called ASUS, got my RMA. I get the number and everything, and I get it sent out.
(This is the part I ALWAYS dread)
They get it... It's been about 3 FULL weeks that they have had it.
On there support site, it just says (waiting) So, I called, and of COURSE I get some Indian person whom I cant understand, She just tells me you should get it in a week...
First of all, I knew she couldn't understand me, so I called back, and I got an American, w00. I talked to her for a few minutes. She sent an e-mail to the Indiana place, and she told me I would get an e-mail within a few hours.
SO, I eat Dinner, and I'm just about to check when a HUGE storm comes in out of nowhere. Then lightning.. Computer goes off, about a min. later.. POP, the transformer gets hit.. (pretty cool looking) if you ask me... anyways... biggest storm I had ever seen.
I come home from school today, I got an e-mail... And it said...

"We are currently out of stock on your model EN6800GT and would like to upgrade you to the next available model at no additional cost to you: EN7600GT with full set of accessories. To approve / decline upgrade offer, please respond back to this email. If you do not wish to take advantage of the upgrade offer, we can attempt to repair your product, but it may take longer than our normal turn around time, which is approximately 10 Business Days."

HAHA lookie there. It rather made my day today :D
(Funny part, I received it at 6:01, when the storm came at 6:00)
Soo, HOORAY a new free 7600GT to replace my 6800GT!
1. W00 and upgrade!!
2. More time... bleh...

So, ya... that was my exciting ASUS RMA. ;)

I had an AGP 6800GT that died on me a while ago. . . Newegg no longer carried the model, so replaced it with a 7800gs. I personally think that the 7600gt is a little anemic, even though it might have the newer hardware/software features.

It's free... and It has better performance, (says TOM)
although im not sure what you mean by anemic....
All I know is I NEED something better then this dumb 7300LE that im using for now

Hm, I think I will kill all my video cards on purpose every 2 1/2 years.....

Lucky.. I ALWAYS get some one from India, no matter what company I call... It's a curse I guess...

Except for the second time I call...

Well.. this makes me feel good....

"Yes, I would like to upgrade. As long as it is still the PCI-E x16."

"I believe it is but I am not a 100 % sure please double check with tech support first and then let me know."

"I just talked with Tech support and the guy said it was 100% PCI-E x16 Compliant."

At least I know it will work.. Kind of odd how the lady didn't know.. for sure..
Oh well.. I just wasted 10min on the phone confirming what I basically already knew...

As a side note...
ASUS After-sale Repair Status Route is as below:
Product Received > (Waiting) > Repairing > Final Testing > Packing > Ready for Shipping > Repair Finished
^^^^^that still annoys me....

Okay... now im pretty mad... It can't be THAT hard just replace the card...
It just says... waiting... its been about... a MONTH now
Oh well, I'm out of the house living with my grandmother for now so, I can wait... until next week. (Were getting our Hardwood redone)

Also, if your feeling a bit nice, stop by the micro$oft operating systems and see if you can help me..

you would think asus would know if the 6800 is repairable or not, before they go and spend their money on upgrading you. and every time ive called "asoose" ive gotten a fairly young American guy.
cant wait till they stop making the a8n32 deluxe :santa:

Hehe.. Yea, when I called, I thought I called the wrong place... I always thought it was pronounced "ey-suh-s"
As for when they stop making your board, Use my quote I made of myself in my sig. (I get a kick out of it)

I had something similar with BFG... my old AGP 6800GT was dead in a weird way - it would work perfectly while the comp was laying flat, and go berserk as soon as the tower was stood up vertically. BFG went ahead and took the RMA, sent me a 6800GT where the DVI port was jacked. I called them again, and they shipped me an AGP 7800GS instead.

Don't get me started on ASUS RMA. I had been sent TWO dead boards on an RMA. This was after the first board I had was dead...

I have had very back luck with their customer service but I have never had to RMA somthing to them. Why must the make good products and have crappy support?

Finally got it today!!!!!!

Hurrah!!!

Anyways, so, I finally got the 7600GT. I put it all in, redid windows, updated the drivers, and now, it's done!
