Hello everyone. I recently bought an Asus Silent Square on eBay- not the pro, and not the Evo. I will have it in about a week, but right now, i'm finding some conflicting information. Does it fit an AM2/AM2+ socket?

The eBay ad specifically lists compatibility with "AMD: Athlon64/64+ Socket754/940/939". A photo from the listing, showing the box of the actual cooler:

(unfortunately, poorly focused) You can clearly make out "AMD Athlon 64 (FX)", and another AMD entry, which I think says Athlon 64 X2.

Asus's website also claims compatibility with "AMD Athlon 64 X2/ FX (Dual-Core), AMD Athlon 64/Sempron CPU."

What worries me is the Newegg listing. It says: "This unit is made to use with Intel Socket 478/775, including the newest Core 2 Duo models and AMD K8 platforms. (Note: This is not designed for use with AMD AM2 Socket processors.) "

Help! If someone could please just let me know if this will fit my AM2 motherboard, that would be fantastic. I would like to know whether to open or sell this thing when it arrives. Thank you!

(as a side note, the list of compatible motherboards is a broken link, and if anyone knows if it will fit an Asus M3A32-MVP, that would be great too.)

By the way, Asus' website shows these brackets: (small photo)

Will these fit the AM2?

(I can't judge for myself because I don't have the motherboard in hand, and my current system is a Socket 462.)

Thanks, but I know that, I posted that in my original post.

Can anyone offer me some personal experience with this cooler, or at least an opinion on which source(s) are more trustworthy? Thanks!
