okay, i know these probes are a bit crap, but they do serve as a useful guide. only problem is that they're soooo stupidly short! has anyone tried lengthening it by cutting it in two and splicing some wire in there? or does the grade and guage of wire affect it?

ta.

As long as you don't make it too long it shouldn't be any problem. Since they are typically thermistors it should be a current loop anyway and it would take a lot of small wire to change it appreciably.

thanks, tim. that's what i thought, but wasn't sure... you reckon a foot-and-a-bit is too long?
