I read an article that said even certain AMD approved power supplies will not work adequately for this board. Example, the Enermax 350 watt supply apparently did not produce enough current under certain conditions. Is this true still? Does the Asus A7M266 revision 1.04 boards have this issue as well?

Here's the quote from the article...
"Also in our testing, we found that utilizing a 350w Enermax power supply, that when attempting to boot following a soft-off, we failed to receive a video signal. Apparently, the 350w Enermax only delivers 1.8amps, and this is not enough to push some of the wakeup functions of this board. This information was readily given to me directly from Asus. I tested this and found it to be valid. Using an Antec P303x 300w 2.0 amp power supply, I no longer experienced this problem. At least, not yet..."
Does the Enermax 350watt EG365P-VE(FC) have the same amperage rating?? Thank you...

not sure which voltages they're referring to when they talk about those 1.8A and 2A currents. but if you look here, then the closest to that you find would be that 5Vsb voltage, and that can source 2.2A... those are nicely spec'd psus, imho.

I ordered the Enermax EG365P-VE(FC). There is also an Enermax EG365P-VE that says it's ATX 12 volt. THe (FC) is an ATX supply too right? The site I ordered it from has the EG365-VE(FC) listed as an ATX supply, but Enermax's site has only the EG365-VE listed as ATX. What gives? What's the difference between the two?

Thanks Megahurtz, so the only difference between the two is that one has the "whisper" quiet function and the other does not. I don't understand why Enermax doesn't list this as an ATX type like it does the EG365P-VE.
Thanks again.

You guys have just made me feel good for the first time this weekend. I received my A7M266 and CPU at the end of the week, only to find out that It wouldn't give me a video signal. I've been waiting all weekend to get ahold of a friend to test my CPU, but it is not very clear to me that my problem MUST be the PSU. I have a VERY cheap 300w Premier PSU that came with my Acer mid-tower case. Here are the specs, the +5VSB amperage is very low IMO - correct?

+12V - 11.5A
+3.3V - 15A
+5V - 20A
+5Vsb - 1.5A

This is a model PS-ATX-300N Premier PSU

BTW, would you recommend the Enermax 431w PSU - EG465P-VE? Where could I purchase one of these on the internet? A reputable retailer I insist.

Yes your +5Vsb rating is too low. Here are the ratings for the Enermax EG365P-VE(FC) 350Watt

3.3V-32A
+5V-32A
+12V-17A
-5V-1A
-12V-1A
+5Vsb-2.2A

I'm glad this topic helped you out.
Let me know how your board performs. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive...:(

I'm very anxious to get this board running, I bought it off of Ebay. You never know what you'll get off of that site. As soon as I find a PSU that I can test it with, I'll let you guys know. I don't want to wait 2-3 days for a PSU to arrive, I'll continue my quest locally.
