i got a abit kt7a motherboard, can any 1 tell me how to see the version????1.0-1.3????

and lastly i got a volcano 6cu+ which i put on the athlon

and what thermal paste should i use???white???????

The AXIA CPUs are one of the best steppings, and should overclock well. Some 1Gig AXIAs have been know to go to 1400MHz!

The Motherboard version may be on the motherboard itself, I'm not sure.

Look for Arctic Silver Thermal paste is what you need. Make sure its on the CPU die only - the bit that sticks up in the middle.

Good Luck :D

My 1.2 TBird is an AXIA (and it's a 200 not a 266 at that!). I've had it stable in the 1500's, but it runs normally at 1427 (143X10) See below.

As for the motherboard, there should be a white sticker on the side of the board with the version number (mine is a 1.0 :()

you should do good with AXIA.. I have an AVIA which is not as good but close, and under air cooling I can get 1.33ghz and working on 1.4ghz.. will post 1.4 but locks when windowsXP is loading..

Just for comparison, I have a 1.1Gig ASHHA and it sucks. The board does as well. *grumble* Jetway *grumble*

I had a AHHA 1ghz, I was lucky enough that I have a friend that had a Compaq with a AMD 1ghz in it.. and of course he was doing no overclocking, so I asked him if he would mind me looking at his chip to check the stepping code.. I gave him a better HSF for letting me do so, well it was the AXIA so I traded up.. With the AHHA I couldn't get over 1.1 stable, would go 1.2 but I would have issues from time to time.. and now running 1.33 stable, and hoping for the 1.4 soon.. but if not, no big deal.. extra 333mhz is nice for free..

*sigh*
Well mine does 1166, but anything higher and it gives me problems. 1144 is OK as well. I once corrupted a lot of windows at 1188.

I have one,

my 1333@[email protected] does around 4500mips in sandra.

It can compete favourably with all but the newest XP'S.

The kt7a is a great overclocking board too.

Be sure to get some good quality ram like mushkin, and get a good heatsink and high rpm fan and you should be very happy with that AXIA.:)

heatsinks

a)i am curenly using volcano 6cu+,but its too noisy
-can any 1 recomend me any fan+heatsink thats under $35????
-s volcano 7 better than volcano 6cu+ huh????

b)so a thunderbird [email protected] ,can it beat athlon XP 1800+???

thanks a lot btw i am using kingmax pc133 256mb

Yogi what was your sisoft score at stock 1.33 speeds??

my 1ghz @ 1.33 gets..

3682mips
1829mflops

Just wondering if that is comparable to yours..

Thanks..
