Hi guys. I just got my hand of a ATI 9700 TX, which is the ati's that are pulled out from a Dell system. It runs at 263/263 default and I haven't overclocked it yet, but I was trying to benchmark it and its doing horrible.

Its getting 4288 in 3dmark03, I'm not a big videocard person but I know that this card shouldn't be putting out framerates in the teens on the tests.

I've tried the newest drivers, the omega drivers, updated my motherboard drivers. I can't think of anything else that I can do to try to improve the scores on these benchmarks. Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong or what I can try to get it to decent frame rates.

The tests fly on the first test (the one with the planes). It gets an average fps of 150ish. But the other three game tests, it will score in the mid 20's where some of the parts of the test will run horribly at 12,-15fps.

Or is 4288 average for a ATI 9700?

Any help is appreciated.

That score is normal for 3dM03.

EDIT: Might want to overclock that thing, and see the improvement. 3dM03 is quite a gruelling GPU test, it brings all current hardeware to its knees. My R9500np modded to an R9700 running at 370/301 gets around 5,200.

I think he was talking about framerates being in the teens. I am not sure what you should be pulling but that sounds a bit low.. not way too low but a bit. You need to overclock that sucker. Also if you previously had a Nvidia in that system then remains from the drivers might be hurting you a bit. A clean format will probably give you some higher scores.

Edit: He noticed that.. also now that i think about it that score might be right on with that card and clocks.

Well, thats a little bit of a relief.

I see ppl here:

who was talking about 3dmark 2003 and they are getting 14xxx. Maybe I misread something.

Yeah, I did have an nvidia card. I'm not sure if I wanna do a format just to get better benches..but I'll definitely OC it to see how well it will do. It comes with the infineon 3.3ns memory so I don't think it'll go too high.

They're talking about 3dm01 and getting 14xxx, NOT 3dM03

3dM01 is dependant heavily on your cpu as well, unlike 3dm03. 3dM03 is truly a GPU benchmark, and is hardly cpu bound at all...
