Is anyone here using any kind of ATI graphics card with any distro of Linux? Because I've been looking to purchase a AIW 7500, to use in a "tivo system" that i'm going to build. But i'm thinking on buying atleast a 100GB HD. I was thinking of using a 10GB partition for win98SE and another 10GB (plus a swap file partition) partition for linux. So i can get my feet wet with an alternative OS.

The reason why i don't build a seperate linux pc is because of limited space and limited amount of monitors. Because i already have a main system which is used by me and other people, for our everyday computing needs. And i figure if i buy such a monstorous HD what difference would 2 extra partitions make anyway!?!?

And if i can find some linux drivers for this card, then i won't have spend $200 for a underpowered GF2MX and personal cinema bundle.

my first suggestion would be to go to the ATI site and see if they have linux drivers for download...i know that nvidia and matrox are good about linux drivers for their video cards, chances are that ati will have some as well. if not, come back and we'll try to figure something else out :p

well found nothing on ati's site, but went to rage3d's website and they have some. One is labled Xfree86 and another is labled DRI. Now would the Xfree86 be refering to the Intel family of cpu's (X86 processors) ?

mandrake 8.2 worked fine with my radeon 32mb ddr VE. No extra drivers needed. I have yet to try to use it with dual monitors yet.

You can do 2d and 3d with a 7500, but I don't know that you can do TV-in with it. Do a google search.
