Currently have a XFX 6600gt AGP, was browsing around best buy and they had a ATI brand x1600pro AGP for $99.

I guess they are regularly $200+, so i picked it up.
I haven't opened it yet, so i can return it.

I have not been following whats come out since maybe the time when the 9800XT cards and the 6600gt and 6800 cards were popular, unlike most people here.

I did a search and couldn't find much info at all on it, is it any good? its it even worth keeping for $99 or should i stick with the 6600gt for a little long until i can justify a entire new system (or at least a PCI-E mobo)

Just curious what yall thought, I use it to power a HDTV and play BF2 at most

The x1600 isn't as good as your 6600gt imo. The ATi midrange x1k series are all very weak except for the brand-new x1650xt. Either try to resell it for more ;) or return it.

What resolution does that hdtv have? The x1600pro isnt very good but its pixel clocks might be useful in your situation

Thanks guys, i guys i will return it.

Anyone still watching this thread, whats a good card under $200 right now?

I don't know if you prefer NV or ATi, but there are a few good options:
NV - 7600GT, you can find some for ~$120 after MIR, specifically the BFG model at Newegg.
7900gs - these are going on fire sale to clear out stocks it seems, you can find some for ~$150 after $40 MIR.
ATi - a little bit tricky because stocks of these are sporadic. The x1k series does have some IQ advantages over the NV cards, although it's sort of irrelevant for the x1650xt especially because it won't handle simultaneous high settings for resolution, AA, AF, but going just by framerates the NV cards are better bang for buck.
x1650xt - roughly equal to the 7600gt, should be ~$150
x1950pro - ~$190-200, about equal to a 7900gs, kind of hard to find stock at those prices though.

How about the x850pro ? i noticed its just over a $100 now, gddr3, 256bit memory

My mate has just upgraded from a X800 XL 256mb AGP card to the X1650 Pro 256mb card cause he needed a Shader Model 3.0 card to play Splinter Cell Double agent. I saw it in action and for £100 it's a dam good upgrade to have I'm buying his X800 XL off him next week and I can't wait. Put my 6200 on ebay so hopefully I'll sell that I know this is on about X1600 Pro but the X1650 is in that series.
