IT'S COLD HERE
Here is the Instructions I got from skildude over at the seti message boards.
1. Download the appropriate OpenCL version of ati drivers

2. uninstall your old ATI drivers.

3. Install new ATI drivers, current version 11.1 you'll need to restart your computer

4. download the multibeam apps from Lunatics. At this point stop running BOINC. Make sure all the BOINC processes are turned off in the task manager (CTRL-Shift-ESC)

5a. for Windows vista/7
unzip then copy/paste the lunatics ati multibeam app into your c: /program data(may be hidden ask for info how to unhide)/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder.

5b.for windows 2k/xp
unzip then copy/paste the files into the C:/Documents and settings/(user folder-mine is under "all users")/Application Data(may be a hidden file)/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder

6. have an app_info file yet?

7a yes. continue to 7b No. skip to #8

7b. for 4XXX series ATI cards, locate your app_info in the same folder that you just put the ati files.
paste this app_info data into your current app_info between the second to the last and last line </app_info>

<app>
<name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_r177.exe</name>

</app_version>

This is from my app_info. if you don't want to or are unable to run more than 1 WU at a time please remove -period_iterations_num 2 -instances_per_device 2 from your command line.

8. Say what no app_info. The easiest way to get one is to install optimized apps. found here. install either the 32 bit or 64 bit which ever system you have. you'll need to know which level SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE3(amd), SSSE3, or SSE4.1 you can run. once you have the optimized apps installed and you can return to 7b.
close the app_info, close other folders. restart BOINC. you should be able to start downloading 6.10 multibeam wu's they should start processing from there

That helped a lot! Vote for sticky

PS might want to add:
9. Restart BOINC, check Messages tab for error message. If you get missing "MB_6.10_win_SSE3_ATI_HD5_r177.exe", make sure you downloaded the right zip file and copied or extracted to the right directory.

Right now BOINC seems to be working fine but it hasn't started crunching on my 5850 yet, it keeps getting HTTP error on downloading files so SETI server may be borked again as usual.

Thank you for posting this up. Now, I don't have to dismiss all of those deals on ATI cards in the classifieds anymore. :thup:

I think there is a reserved spot in the current sticky for whenever this became a reality. You should PM QuietIce to get it added.

That's a beginning! :)

Yes, I left a post open in the Installation sticky specifically for instructions on installing an ATi app. I'll have to do a little work to fit it into the existing format - then we need some guinea pigs! ;)

Turns out AMD has some info in their FAQ section. Here's how I've modified it so far but this is a very rough draft and I've only made it through #5.

I'm working on the best method to present the app_info file information. It's actually easier for people without one since I can just attach an app_info file to the post and have them do a download/paste. Adding lines to an existing app_info is a little more complicated if you've never done it before.

1. Download the OpenCL ATi driver for your graphics card.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

2. Uninstall your old ATI drivers and install new ATI drivers with OpenCL support. (This will require a system restart.)
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/737-20870HowtoInstallYourATIProduct.aspx

3. Download the ATi GPU application that meets your needs.
http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=39

4. Open the BOINC Manager and click "File/Exit" to close BOINC. Open the Windows Task Manager to ensure that all BOINC processes have stopped.

5. Find the previously downloaded Lunatics application and unzip it. Then copy and paste (or drag & drop) all the unzipped files into the project data folder. If you followed the standard installation it should be one of these folders (if asked to over-write select "yes to all"):

Windows Vista or Win 7
C:/ProgramData/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu

Windows 2000 or XP
C:/Documents and settings/(user folder or all users folder)/Application Data/BOINC/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder

If the above folder is not visible you may need to enable "View Hidden Files and Folders" (see below).

I also need to review the style Careface used for the other installation instructions and modify these as needed to make it all consistent. This will also mean adding the ATi instruction in the proper place in the main post, which I think will be the same place as the CUDA branch.
