I am due to make a system overhaul, and was wondering if it is worthed upgrading to a Sparkle GeForce4 Ti4200 128Mb with VIVO etc... from an ATI Radeon 8500 running 300/300.

I am really happy with the Radeon, but since I have already found a buyer for it, I would like to know what to do.

I am not an avid gamer, but I always play the latest games (Morrowind, GP4, etc..), I also play a lot of DVDs.

What are your reccomandations

Since you're not an avid gamer and like to watch DVDs, no it's not worth it, stick with the 8500.

If you feel you really must upgrade, wait until nearer Christmas, things are about to get interesting ;).

What are you talking about? What's the interesting things?

ATI will be launching less expensive versions of the 9700 Pro (9500, 9500 Pro, and 9700) soon, while Nvidia will be launching the NV30 with in the next few months (Nov-Dec). Of these only the 9500, and 9500 Pro look to be in your price range (-200) however the release of newer products might drop the price of some of the current offerings into your price range. In other words Business as usual.

The thing is that I have found a buyer for my video card so the upgrade would not cost that much.

Please help me decide,

ATI Radeon 8500 LELE 64Mb TV-Out + DVI running 300/300 vs Sparkle GeForce4 Ti4200 128Mb TIVO + DVI stock 250/220

Well, with all these new cards comming out the prices should drop. So if you buy anything now you will lose a lot of money. I think you should keep the Radeon for now, and then see how things look in a couple of months.

From the replys I got, I think I will keep the Radeon, thanks for your help

back out of the sale it is NOT worth it to upgrade to a Ti4200 from an 8500. Wait for the 9500 Pro from ATI to hit the shelves

Cisco KId

how much is he offering?....unless youre ripping him off (like selling it for 100$) then its not worth it

Well I new ATI 8500 over here costs $145 and thats the 64Mb version, everything is quite more pricy over here :(
