I have this old ati rage pro pci in an old p166 comp. (yeah I know it's slow). Whenever I try to run a program that uses D3D, it locks up. I know it used to work before, but now it just locks up. I tried moving the card to a different slot, making sure it's in, etc. I also have the newest ati drivers

Perhaps the driver you are using on this card cannot support whatever version of direct-x you are running. I have a friend that has a old Voodoo Banshee card with the latest (well the last driver release from Voodoo) driver for that card. He wanted to play a certain game that required direct -x 7.0a. We loaded it and from that point on, he could not play ANY games that used Direct 3D. After we finally switched back to Direct X 7.0 (which we later found out our Voodoo driver supported) all direct 3D games were working again. Hope this helps.

Hmm... perhaps, but this happens even with a fresh install of windows ME, and using the windows driver, it still locks up. Even so, how would I go back to a previous version of direct X?
