The heatsink I have has the clip end with the notch for pushing it down with a screwdriver on the side with the raised step part for the raised part of the socket. I thought you had to attach that end first, if thats true I wont have any place for me to put the flathead screwdriver tip onto the other side of the clip to attach it to the socket of the mobo.

Can I attach the side opposite of the raised part of the socket first?

You attach the side without the notch first, then you use a screwdriver or something small in the notch to help get the other side on. Carefull though, you don' t want the screwdriver to slip and hit the motherboard, could damage something.

Also, don't forget to use AS3

attact the side of the clip that doesnt have the notch in it for the screwdriver then let the heatsink sit on the core then put the driver in the notch and push down and slightly outward until the clip is around the while notch on the socket.
