You know the audio cable that goes from a DVD/CD-Rom to the sound card? Is that really a necesity to play music from the DVD/CD-Rom?

no. virtually all cd-drives now send data digitally through the ide cable so it isnt needed unless you plan to use analogue (and be stuck at 1x audio extraction)

i always wondered if i really needed those... thanks for the heads up on that... that was the one thing that looked like crap running through my case.
