Hi! Just recently my girlfriends laptop started having some issues with skype and msn. When we talked before, we could hear eachother fine, talk and all that jazz. One night, Skype crashed and her laptop rebooted and it cleaned up some files. Now, when we talk on skype or msn or any program like that, she hears me fine, but her voice is very faint to me, I can clearly hear myself talking, and if she's listening to music I can hear it as if I'm listening to it on my pc.

Everything is hooked up right, and this is getting annoying. What could it be? I suspect re-installing audio drivers might possibly fix it, but not the most likely since it's only an issue when someone else is talking to her. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.

What do you mean by "it cleaned up some files", and which OS is she running? Have you already tried reinstalling Skype and / or MSN Messenger?

Do you have microphone boost turned on? You usually do that using the master volume under advanced setting.
