Ok I am trying to upgrade my BIOS on my AZZA KT3-AV board so I can plug an AMD XP 1800+ into it. I downloaded the new BIOS and awardflash 7.** and when I tried to do it had an error msg of unknown flash type. So I checked what version of Award BIOS I had, its 6.00PG, found a website with tons of different versions of Award BIOS flashers.

I didnt see 6.00PG , so I tried version 6.6, it seemed to get a little further along , but not far at all really. then i get a msg saying " This program file's part number does not match with your system"
-- "are you sure you want to program?" -- Not knowing what exactly that meant I hit no. So I am still stuck with my old BIOS and no clue what to do. Any help? (be detailed, as you can prob tell this is my first time attempting to flash BIOS)

NOob

Ok. Go to the manufacturer's site and download the latest BIOS for your board. Check that it is for your board. Then download the correct flash utility.

Using a DOS bootdisk/via the startmenu restart into DOS. go to the directory where the program and the BIOS image is and type:

awdflash.exe <BIOS FILE> /sn /py /cc /r

Substituting <BIOS FILE> for the name of the BIOS file that you downloaded.

I figured out what I was doing wrong, I needed to download the newest version of AWARD. I finally got it to work, pretty much atleast. It now things I have a 5 1/2 in. old school floppy drive, but I should be able to fix that easy enough.
