i recently found out about the DIP switch on my mobo...it can switch the fsb from 100 where it is now to 143...that means i cant switch my fsb speed in the BIOS right?

do i still have to increase power to the cpu also ?

i also hear about connecting the L1 bridges...do i have to do that with my slot cpu?is so where and how?

k thanks

You'd need a GFD.

They can be found at alot of the online shops.

I've got an Athlon classic 550@700 using a the Ninja GFD. So you might wanna look into that one.

ok but isnt their a way people can attach the bridges with a pencil? i hear that in so many places

You said you have a Slot Athlon, which are the Athlon 'Classics'. You can't connect bridges on it because it isnt a socket A cpu like T-bird/Durons. The only way you can change your multiplier is using a GFD which connects to the top corner of your CPU (you'll have to break open the shell) and then using the dip switches/dials/jumpers to change em. It works just like the bridgin on socket As.

And on that note does anyone know of an Athlon Slocket :) ?

These people have a passive GFD. I have 2 from them. (tbird slot a 950 @ 1170 [117 * 10] and a 550 @ 750) They are real good at answering questions

If you are going to overclock far they also have a Global Win VOS32 and artic silver. I bought this from them also.

Only thing to remember is don't use these with an NIC with realtek Chips Your computer will not boot with the realtek NIC. (trust me I know I had to remove them in both of my computers to get them to work)

ok if i dont connect the bridges, can i still oc the athlon? i wouldnt be able to increase the multiplier,,,but couldnt i just increase the fsb up from 100 and keep the multiplier at 8? would that work? im getttin a little confused

Yea you can change the FSB and leave the multiplier, that's actually the better way of o/cing cause the memory runs faster also.

Just don't expect too big of an overclock, my Slot Athlon wouldnt get passed 110mhz.
