Ballistix Problems Specific To Hardware?

Are the problems that everyone has with ballistix specific to the DFI brand motherboards? Practically eveyrone that has a problem with them, has a DFI motherboard. I will be getting an EPoX 9NPA Ultra or something like that, and want to get this ram...and of course, I don't want them to go bad. I will be getting active RAM cooling to put on top of the actual modules, I just don't want to get really good clocks, get happy, then get bummed when they crap out on me. So is this hardware specific?

My Ballistix failed on a Asus A8N-SLI Premium running at stock settings. Just all of a sudden started giving errors.

One of the reported issues has been heat. Many do not have active cooling present for the modules which is necessary for overclocking.
