Barton may be coming sooner rather than later.

The new roadmap from Amd shows barton at the end of 2h02 to 1h03.

Linky

Although if Amd had kept to a much older roadmap we would have it by now :)

altho amd has been on a roll getten cpus out latly i wouldnt go to vegas and bet on it.im betten they plaay this out with currant cpus for a few months easily.

Roadmap is an indicator. The Barton may arrive at any time within that range. Though only the eternal optimist would believe it will be out near the start of that range!

AMD is currently having problems pumping out the new Nags at a half-decent rate, what makes you think that this Roadmap is prelude to anything.

Vapourware, I say.

I think they will release it when they can... Once they get the production of 2400-2700 rolling better, they might do a paper release of higher speeds. Then they'll just price them so high that nobody will really afford to get them. I hope they get their production lines fixed soon though, I would love to upgrade my pos cpu.

My estimate is launch at end of december or first week of jan, and starting appearance in retail near the end of January or sometime in Feb.

Ratings will be 2900-3000+ Running at slightly less clock speed than the 2900-3000 tbred b's.(if released... May be likely due to how the new AIUGB stepping is OC'in.) Although i would rather have a barton :)

My best guess for Overclocking of Barton will be 2400mhz on air 2500-2600 water 2700-2900 on prommy or dry ice and 3000+ on LN2. (mind you this will not be in the first stepping although i love to be wrong)

But the barton is ment to have Hammer optimisations in it, so that will give it some nice power
