Yes i know there are PCIexpress but i have a friend who does not want to upgrade just yet Waiting on money for core2duo

So then i ask again what is the best card Price not important

He plays WOW and Splinter Cell and Far Cry

thanks for the information

So this x1950 PRO AGP is real? I couldn't tell if it was a misprint or what.

BTW, IIRC Far Cry, Splinter Cell, and WOW aren't that graphic intensive. I can run Far Cry on maxed out settings, w/ my 9800Pro, excluding AA/AF

Caught my attention with this. Thought it might be out but alas not yet. $300 is not what I consider available.

IMO spending $300 on a graphics card for an AGP system is not a smart thing to do. Unless he has a really good CPU and won't be upgrading for a while, it just doesn't seem to be a good choice.

that is crazy :D i didnt know that card came in agp. i still think it would be best to just build a new pci-e system?

the x850 doesnt support ps 3.0 which he needs for splinter cell: Double Agent.

I agree with you. Though I want to point out the perspective of an AGP owner.

With a viable setup. It is not the platform. It is getting a nice graphical boost. The cost to get a PCI-e going versus tossing in top end AGP card is easier and cheaper. Heck the OS will run almost half the cost of just getting the AGP card. Add the 0ther costs in and it is actually cheaper to just keep the AGP setup. :D Now if it is a stock or low clocked 462 or lower end CPU like a Duron/Sempron. Yes, I do agree with you. It would be a waste of funds. There would be much better matches for the setup, not in the high end AGP spectrum.
