Hey guys,

I'm new to DVD stuff for PCs and looking to add some DVD capabilities to my computer. So, wanted to find out which DVD drive brand is you think the best and what model. Also, DVD decoder board, what good is it for?

I think the verdict around here lies with the slot-loading pioneer DVD ROM. I'm planning on picking one up in the near future, and found a fairly good deal on the 106S model at Jazz Technologies.

Don't know about the company, but it's worth a look. Pricewatch shows a lot of OEM 106S's for under $60.

Found the pdf for product specs at Pioneer's Website.

Alright. I looked around, and the best price/reseller rating I found was at Newegg.com. I've never dealt with them, but most everyone here says they are awesome, so I'm ordering my 106s from them tonight. The only thing I don't like about this is shipping, but since I'm getting such a good deal ($53US) I won't argue. $63 for a really cool DVD is acceptable.

By the way, my nexfan order came in today and everything is retail-boxed and shipped on-time and appropriately. The prices were extraordinary, service was superb (responsive to my e-mails within 10 minutes both times) and I recommend them if you're ever out for fans.
