What would be the best way to hold a waterblock to an Athlon XP? The mobo will be an 8KHA+... the waterblock is going to be made by me... but I'm wondering about the hold down... How? Any links or advice? Thanks.

Not quite bro ;)

I'm wondering... well for starters if the 8kha+ has those four holes... if it does... should I use those? Or should I use the socket lugs... and where can I get a hold down at? If its for the four holes how do I use them?

Is there somewhere I can buy one? I'm still new at socket A waterblock design so I'm a little unsure of my talents in this area... especially with the clamping.

Go to a local hardware store. Be sure to get nylon screws, and bolts though, you don't want to take any chances. I think the that are about 1/8" wide or something like that? Anyone know that exact measurments?

*edit*
Oops, you meant one already assembled. If you don't want to make your own hold downs you should look into either of these two blocks. They both come with mounting hardware

I don't want to buy a waterblock... I make my own... I just want to buy the hold down... more so I can use the design to make my own later.

I think thats how I'm gonna end up doing it... but I was hoping for an alternative... the block hasn't been started yet... still wondering what to use... copper (need to order it still) or aluminum (already have enough).

Hmmm... gonna post something in the classifieds perhaps...

www.dangerden.com and www.caseetc.com both sell the plexi/bolt holddowns seperately.

For your info, if you'd like to roll your own, the holes are 2.6" x 1.42" on center. I also attached a pic to show how the hardware is arranged. The springs should take around 15 pounds of pressure to compress, so you can pick them out at the hardware store. The (#6 or #8) bolts and especially the washers on the mobo should be plastic.

Have fun!
