i'm currently looking for a decent intel dual mobo. overclocking is not my main concern, i want a decent board something with 4 dimm slots (able to do ecc, registered sdram), 64-bit pci, no on-board sound/lan/scsi (lame). it's a server i'm building, anyone got any thoughts? thanks.

Dunno if you'll find a Server board without on board SCSI. I haven't researched them extensively, though! My personal fave of the moment is the Tyan S2567. Anand did a detailed review of this board recently. My second in line is the Intel STL2. Moving into a price range that I could conceivably afford, I suggest a look at http://www.centrix-intl.com . These folks specialize in obsolete(yet new) Server boards. Their Server mainboards are linked to Intel's info for them. I've bought from Centrix-International twice, excellent service, both times. Definitely worth the click!

The Forums here are running on an L440GX+. Supports up to 1 Gig CPU's, 2GB RAM, on board Dual Channel SCSI and can be had new for around $400 bucks. Now I just need to get some real processors to replace these PII 450's.

Try looking at the Abit Vp6.

Dual p3 fc-pga
4 Dimms, up to 2gb pc 133 SDRAM
Via apollo pro 133 chipset
built in Raid, can go Raid 0, Raid 1, or Raid 10(which is 0+1)
just to name a few

VP6 is a great board, but doesn't support ECC ram. I have a server running one though, and it's working well. I also have one for a workstation and I like it a lot.

Check out the Asus CUV4X-D, this board really rocks. It also supports a wide variety of overclocking features all for about 160 bucks. Supports up to 4GB of ram.http://www.asus.com/products/Motherboard/Pentiumpro/Cuv4x-d/index.html

ASUS CUV4X-D will support your requirements. Pricewatch.com has it for $163. Tom's harware gave this a very good review. Good luck.
